Ingredients
- 1 cup (125grams) Milk powder or powdered milk
- 2 cups(480ml) Water
- 3 to 4 tablespoonful(125ml, half cup) Plain natural Yogurt or Greek yogurt
Quick note: the yoghurt used can be natural liquid yogurt or the thick yogurt as used in this recipe.
You can also make use of either natural yoghurt or greek. The greek yogurt tends to be thicker than the the plain natural one, because it has less whey in it(which is that liquid you find at the top of the yogurt.
How To Make Yogurt In Nigeria – Preparation
1. First step is to pour the milk powder or powdererd milk into a a large bowl or container; add a cup of the hot water and mix well to dissolve the milk.
Now add the remaining water and stir well.
2. Mix in the yogurt and stir until well combined
3. Seal the container tightly and keep in a warm place for 8 to 12 hrs so that yogurt can set properly.
I like to seal mine with a thin foil, a poly bag(plastic bag) and a warm blanket and store in a warm oven or a food cooler/warmer
4. After 8 to 12 hrs , you’ll get a rich and creamy yogurt which you can either dilute or use for any recipe that calls for natural yogurt
5. Don’t forget to scoop out about 4 tablesooopful and set aside for your next batch.
Enjoy!
