Design and Display
Besides the staggering similarity between the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus and the Galaxy S8 Plus it is just a bit larger but still has the same screen size though. It is also exactly the same with the smaller S9 model albeit it’s dual rear camera and larger size. One of the differences between the two smartphones released yesterday is the battery. The Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus has an additional 500mAh compared to the S9 smartphone. Featuring a 3, 500mAh Li-ion battery, it has wireless charging and you could also charge through the USB Type-C port with the Quick charge technology.
Moving on to the dual camera featured on the smartphone that provides the 2X optical zoom is the only thing differentiating the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus from the Galaxy S9 smartphone. There’s also an OIS and dual aperture feature already discussed in the S9 smartphone.
It features a dual 12MP with one having the dual aperture (f/1.5, f/2.4) feature same as in the S9 smartphone while the other has a f/2.4 aperture. For selfies, there is an 8MP f/1.7 camera with the AR Emoji feature that creates a 3D emoji character based on you.
Hardware and Software
Both smartphones released yesterday have the same hardware except for the storage and RAM size. The Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus also has two versions of Octa-core chipset, one with Samsung’s Exynos 9810 SoC alongside a Mali-G72 MP18 GPU and the other with Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 845 as well as an Adreno 630 GPU. The former ships to Europe, Middle-East and Africa while tha latter to China and USA.
Moving on to the storage and memory space, there is a larger 6GB RAM and about 128GB built in storage with support for a memory card up to 200GB. The Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus smartphone runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with Samsung Experience UI on top. You could also always make take the smartphone to landscape mode right from the home-screen and menu.
