Coriander is one of the famous spices in Asia, especially in Indonesia. Like many others spices, coriander, especially its leaves, has surprisingly benefits for our health. Coriander leaves is one of the important herbs that brings significant benefits for our body.

1. Effective Antibiotics.

Coriander leaves is good for antibiotics to overcome digestive problem, such as diarrhoea that is caused by patogen bacteria. This is because they contain borneol chemical substance that is able to eradicate E.coli bacteria. Acts as natural antibiotics, coriander is beneficial to overcome various health problems such as gastric inflammation, measles, hemorrhoids, dizzy, flu, high blood pressure, breast inflammation, vomit and impotence.

They also contain antibiotic substance, dodecenal. Dodecenal is double effective for gentamisin. It is an antibiotics for eradicating food bacteria, salmonella.

Some essential oil components in coriander leaves, such as Borneol dan Linalool, help our digestive system to perform better. It also increases our heart and stomach function. Those two substances are effective for healing dairrhoea because the components such as Cineole, Borneol, Limonene, Alpha-pinene and beta-phelandrene have anti bacteria effect. Coriander leaves is also useful for preventing nausea and vomit.

Cholesterol is an essential fat that causes chronic disease, such as heart failure, stroke, and diabetes. Coriander leaves are able to reduce the blood level because they contain sodium and potassium. In coriander leaves are found various acid substances, such as linoleat acid, oleat acid,  palmitat acid, stearat acid and askorbat acid (vitamin C-). They are very effective in reducing cholesterol level in our blood.

They also reduce the bad cholesterol ( LDL ) level along artery and vein walls which can cause cardiovascular disease such as artherosclerosis, heart attack and stroke. Let alone their ability to increase the good cholesterol (HDL) that prevents us from suffering from another fatal cardiovascular disease.

Coriander leaves are best for reducing our weight. These are how:

  • Mince 60 gr of coriander leaves.
  • Put them in a big cup.
  • Pour 4 glasses of hot water and let it cold for 10 minutes.
  • Strain it and add 1 spoonful of honey, lemon
  • Drink this potion every morning before breakfast. (For having the best result, drink this 5 days).

Unfortunately, consuming coriander leaves too much can trigger allergy reaction to people who are sensitive to this spice.

The Side Effect of Coriander Leaves:

  • Heart Damage. Their antioxidant can increase bile secretion if they are not used properly and based on the suggested dosage. Over bile secretion will damage our heart.
  • Lost consciousness. Their ability to level down our blood pressure can make our consciousness lost.
  • Various Health Problems. Besides, consuming too much coriander leaves makes us suffer from stomachache, stomach cramp, diarrhoea, respiratory problem, chest pain, over skin sensitivity to sun rays, and dehydration.
  • Skin Irritation. Coriander leaves may be an allergen. But we can not easily detect them because it is often combined with spices.  In some cases, the usage of coriander leaves causes skin irritation.

Warning:

Expectant mothers are suggested not to consume coriander leaves even though some of them state that they increase the production of breast milk. They are advised to consult the doctor before putting coriander as part of their diet and they should be aware to the response of their body.

Considering coriander leaves as part of our diet is good. However, we should be aware of the side effect they might bring. It is important for us to notice the response given by our body.
