Can I Take Misoprostol 6 Hours After Mifepristone
According to an article from this link: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/15121556/, a conclusion was arrived at stating that:
Mifepristone 200 mg followed 6 to 8 hours later by misoprostol 800 microg vaginally is as effective for abortion and has significantly fewer side effects as compared with regimens using a 24-hour dosing interval. Women receiving mifepristone and vaginal misoprostol for abortion can have the flexibility to administer the misoprostol as soon as 6 hours after using the mifepristone.
Do I Have To Wait 24 Hours To Take Misoprostol
Timeline Summary
Step 1 Mifepristone: Take the first pill at your carafem appointment
Most people feel fine after taking this first pill. Some will have nausea, and fewer will experience bleeding. After taking your first dose at carafem, you can proceed with normal activities until you take the 2nd medication.
Step 2 Misoprostol: Up to 72 hrs later take the 2nd set of pills at home
We will go over how to do this in detail before you leave our center. You will let the pills dissolve into your cheeks or insert them into your vagina.
Step 3: The abortion begins within 1-4 hours after step 2
You will experience bleeding and cramping that can last 6-8 hours. You should plan to rest for at least 24 hours.
