The NYSC certificate number is the number that is written in the top right-hand corner of your NYSC certificate below the year of your service. This number starts with A00. This number is different from your NYSC call-up number or your discharge number. Very often there are situations when this number has to be verified. You must know that it can be verified by the National Youth Service Corps only.

First, you have to write a letter to request for verification of your NYSC certificate number. The letter should be addressed to “Director-General, National Youth Service Corps, Directorate Headquarters, Plot 416, Tigris Crescent, Maitama, Abuja.” The letter must be marked “Attention: Director (Corps Certification)”.

Then you should make photocopies of every single certificate you intend to verify. Each of the certificates should be numbered serially with a pen or marker and attached to the letter.
